Do you love the planet ?
We do !!
If like us you love planet earth you can feel comfortable that we do not use any products that harm the environment. Because we use largely natural products we are not creating any damaging effect on coral reefs, algae or marine mammals. Some chemicals hidden in serums and moisturisers can adversely affect the environment when our domestic water goes into the oceans and is detrimental to marine life.
Here are some nasties that you will never find in our products so you don’t have to worry.
Oxybenzone and octinoxate
These two chemicals are commonly found in sunscreens and some countries are banning their use in products. These are thought to damage coral reefs preventing their growth. LU does not want to contribute to any damage these may cause.
Triclosan
This antibacterial agent found in various products from shampoo to toothpaste and soap and is proven to be toxic to aquatic bacteria, algae and larger mammals such as dolphins. Banned by the FDA in the US, the EU are phasing it out, banned by LU in our products.
Parabens
These have been widely used as preservatives in skincare and are believed to disrupt hormone function, finding their way into marine mammals via waterways. LU do not use parabens in any of our products.
Plastic Microbeads
Plastic not fantastic. These are now banned in rinse off cosmetics in the UK and the US, but are allowed in most countries in products. The tiny plastic spheres found in anything from exfoliators to toothpaste enter the eco system via our waterways and are consumed by fish and other marine life. Our scrubs do not contain any plastic and the granules are all natural and fully degradable.
Here is some good stuff that you will find in our formulas
